Find out what shocked them the most from that episode and why it felt like the cops would bust through the doors at any moment.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Market Manipulation<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">J.J. definitely exposed some harsh realities that our hosts weren\u2019t quite expecting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sure, all traders hear the rumors of stock manipulation and how you\u2019re trading against an unknown \u2018enemy\u2019 in the market \u2026 But having it confirmed was still pretty shocking.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These just aren\u2019t the kinds of things people openly talk about.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For Stephen, everything J.J. said was just confirmation of what he thought was going on all along&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He knew the markets have to be manipulated and rigged. If it was random, nobody would be able to profit from day trading. To him, good day traders know what the big guys are doing and follow the money.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stephen says the important takeaway is to know the game. If you know what\u2019s happening on the other side, you can potentially profit from it. You can learn to recognize the price action and see these tactics play out in real-time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stephen is actually grateful for the market makers and promoters. Without them, there would be a lot less liquidity and volatility in the markets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What\u2019s the Most Shocking Part?\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s where market manipulation gets real. Tim was shocked to have his suspicion about a market shift confirmed. For eight years Tim shorted the same pattern, until one day it stopped working\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Suddenly, stocks started ripping back up and squeezing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">J.J. confirmed Tim\u2019s suspicions about a market shift.\u00a0 Although Tim knew something was up, hearing it right from a source \u201cbehind the curtain\u201d was validation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For Stephen, the biggest surprise was when J.J. casually mentioned they used to hold billions of shares of sub-penny stocks in offshore accounts&#8230;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The massive scale of operations, the number of shares being traded, and the amount of money being generated is staggering.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kim was stunned to hear J.J. report that market makers and others work together in \u201cpacks.\u201d It\u2019s not just one lone wolf out there doing this. And it makes Kim wonder\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What Else Don\u2019t We Know?\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If market manipulation is real \u2026 What else is happening behind the scenes that we don\u2019t know about? And if everyone has a good idea of what\u2019s up, why isn\u2019t it talked about more openly?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tim and Stephen think it\u2019s because nobody cares. Most new traders just \u201cwant to make bank, bro.\u201d And profitable traders already know the game.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tim also notes \u2026 If you\u2019re a shady character with a money-printing machine, why would you tell anyone about it?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also, J.J.&#8217;s actions were illegal. Just being part of the conversation made Tim wonder if the cops would break down the door at any moment.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Market Manipulation: Putting It All Together\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are a lot of layers to learn in trading and the markets. As you learn, you just get to deeper and deeper layers&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A lot of what our hosts discussed with J.J. might go over some new traders\u2019 heads.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And some traders might not want to go this deep into the underbelly of the markets. It\u2019s hard enough to learn how to trade without worrying about what might really be going on.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s important to stay focused.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tim says it goes back to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.steadytrade.com\/episode-1-introduction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the very first episode of this podcast<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 the number-one goal of new traders should be to stay in the game as long as possible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Get the screen time in and don\u2019t take huge risks. If you lose $20 here and there, it\u2019s no big deal, as long as you stay in the game.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tim was able to recognize the shift in the markets in 2015 because he was watching the markets every day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If what J.J. says is true, market makers are just trying to take advantage of retail traders. So every five years or so, they have to change their tactics.
